The Cherith Experience. We all will go through in one way or another.

Day 11.

31 Days

1Kings 17:7Now after a time the stream became dry, because there was no rain in the land”

Elijah was told to go to the brook Cherith and stay there. It was time of LONELINESS and BASIC FOOD. He was there for quite a while without any friends and no close friendships. He did not have any luxury, and no one to talk to.
Cherith was a place where he had to depend upon God each day, indeed one day at a time for FOOD and PROTECTION.
During this time at Cherith he became more acquainted with God for there was nothing to distract Him.
We all have our Cherith that is a time when we have NO real friends or certainly no one really close to like, in a relationship.
We have basic things to live on which means just enough strength to get through the day and just enough happiness or hope to keep us going, but not enough to really lift us up with joy and brightness. Cherith for us is a lonely time, a time when we just have God but we long for human closeness and intimacy. A longing to share life with someone in all its facets.
Cherith is day after day with no text messages, no emails from any one special.
Cherith is no one to share a sun set, time off, a ministry or the blessing in your life.
Cherith is you alone all alone just you and God.
Cherith is painful silence to our prayers for a special friend.
Cherith is a place of dwindling hope.
Cherith is a place where we feel we are about to give in and give up. Like Elijah the spring began to run dry and things got worse and worse until God suddenly said “TIME to move on now”!

We to must stay and Cherith in all its hurt and loneliness. The stream of hope and encouragement is running dry and our life may seem to be getting more low and hopeless.
But suddenly God will say TIME to move on.

When God moves us on it will be into NEW HOPE and Friendships etc. Elijah went from solitude and hurt into luxury food, a room and companionship.

I am like many in Cherith waiting for New things and Gods call. May we all have strength to HOPE to the END for Gods goodness to be revealed. Cherith will end.
